The most common side effects include:
Black stools. The reason for this is due to the colour of the activated charcoal. If your stools are suddenly very black, it does not mean that there is anything wrong your stools. In fact, the black colour is completely harmless, and can hardly be called a side effect.
Constipation is another potential side effect. The charcoal powder must be mixed with water when you take it. We recommend that when you take Pure Eden Activated Charcoal internally, you follow it with a second glass of water. If you are at all inclined to constipation, keep your system well hydrated to prevent any problems. You can also take the charcoal powder in a slurry form to help avoid constipation hassles. Some warnings about Activated Charcoal.
Activated charcoal powder must always be taken in liquid form. Mix well in a glass of water before taking internally. Under no circumstances must you swallow the powder if it is not mixed.
If you are using activated charcoal to whiten your teeth it is important to note that if have crowns, caps, or porcelain veneers, it’s possible that activated charcoal may stain them.
In general, if you are taking medications while taking activated charcoal, experts recommend that you take the charcoal at least two hour before and after taking synthetic medication.
There are only 3 grades of charcoal that should be taken internally. Coconut husks, bamboo and untreated hardwood. Burnt foods, is not suitable for consumption – in fact it is known to be very carcinogenic, and harmful for your health.
