Activated Charcoal Recipes

Activated Charcoal Ice Cream

Ingredients

  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1/4 cup Pure Eden food-grade activated charcoal
  • 1 cup sour cream
  • 14-ounce can sweetened condensed milk
  • 1 teaspoon lemon zest
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 1 tablespoon lemon curd
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Directions

  • In a large chilled metal bowl, using a hand mixer on high speed, whip the heavy cream and about 1/3 of the charcoal powder until stiff peaks form. Set aside.
  • In a smaller bowl, whisk together sour cream, condensed milk, lemon zest and juice, curd, vanilla extract, and remaining charcoal powder until no lumps can be seen.
  • Gently fold the sour cream mixture into the whipped cream until just combined. Transfer the mixture to a metal or glass loaf pan, cover the top with plastic wrap to prevent ice crystals from forming, and freeze for at least 12 hours or overnight until firm.
  • Scoop ice cream into bowls or waffle cones and enjoy.

How to Make Activated Charcoal Bread

Ingredience

  • 15g fresh yeast
  • 500g strong white flour
  • 400ml hot tap water
  • 1 x teaspoon of Pure Eden activated charcoal powder
  • 6g table salt
  • 3g caster sugar
  • 40ml olive oil

Method

  • In a large bowl rub the yeast through the flour to form a breadcrumb consistency.
  • Add the sugar, salt and contents of the charcoal and mix well.
  • Add the hot water, food colouring and oil and mix into a dough.
  • Knead the dough for 3-4 minutes, then leave it to rise for 1 hour in a warm place.
  • Divide the dough into 20 even round balls.
  • Place the dough balls on two lined baking trays. Ensure there is ample space between each dough ball.
  • Cover with a clean cloth and leave to rise for 30 minutes in a warm place.
  • Preheat your oven to 220°C fan forced.
  • Place the rolls in the oven for 20-25 minutes.
  • Remove for the oven and enjoy.

Preparation time; 1 hour 40 minutes. Cooking time; 15- 20 minutes. Makes; 20 bread rolls
